Tri-State Art Guild Spring 2007
GUILD NEWS
THE EVANSVILLE ART GUILD HAS CHANGED ITS NAME!
In September of 2006, guild officers and a group of original and active long-time members voted to change
the Evansville Art Guild's name to the Tri-State Art Guild. It was decided that the new name would better
reflect that our members are from the entire tri-state not just Evansville and hopefully open up exhibit
possibilities in more tri-state communities as well.
NEW OFFICERS Carolyn Jones is now president, new member Pati Hoskins is our guild secretary and Val
Alsop is the treasurer.
NEW WEBSITE - tri-stateartguild.org
Free marketing opportunities will be available to our members this year on the new guild website. On our
"free" Member Page, viewers may see member artwork and access member links. The website will also be a
valuable tool for accessing updated guild information.
NEW VENUES
One of the most exciting opportunities we will have this year is a collaboration with the Angel Mounds State
Historic Site for our two major events, "The Art of Spring" Open Air Art Competition and Exhibit beginning in
April and the "Art at the Mounds" Fine Art Fair in early September. In June and October, there will be
"Members Only" exhibits at the Pagoda. You will find more information about the first two events on the
enclosed entry forms & at tri-stateartguild.org.
EVENTS COMMITTEE- Help Needed!
Many hands make the work light! Help us make our events successful and fun for all. If you would like to be
on our Events Committee, please specify this on the Membership Form and we will contact you when we
schedule a meeting. We could really use your help and creativity!
ARTIST MARKETING OPPORTUNITIES
Check out our new Tri-State Art Guild website tri-stateartguild.org. There you will find guild news, event
schedules and updates, artist resources and a special member page that can be used to direct viewers to
artist's emails and websites. Membership is required to be listed on the page and artists can submit an image
of their work to show their talents. All members are encouraged to take advantage of this free offer with paid
dues.
A Letter from the New President…
Hello Everyone, I am looking forward to meeting and working with all of you this year. For those who do not
already know me, I would like for you to know a little about your new president. Henderson Kentucky is my
home and I am, for the most part, a self-taught artist, with some training as a potter. Functional clay pieces
are my favorite art form, but photography, graphic design, watercolors, acrylics, sewing and jewelry making
are all a close "second."
My artistic career began as a muralist with work in businesses and private homes, but from 1997-2000, I
owned and managed the Painted Bird Gallery in Evansville, Indiana. Currently, I am the Arts & Crafts
Coordinator at the Earle C. Clements Job Corps Academy in Morganfield, Kentucky and assist students with
projects in a recreational setting. After taking a three year sabbatical as guild president, I was asked to
resume the position this year and am happy to do so. To reach me, you may call 270-826-6674 or email me
at carolynjones@tri-stateartguild.org.
Many thanks to everyone who helped make our events a success last year. I am sure everyone will like the
changes that have been made to the guild such as the new name, website and venues and I encourage all to
take full advantage of the marketing opportunities the Tri-State Art Guild has to offer our members this year.
