Really BIG and Really tiny Shows

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

The Tri-State Art Guild is gearing up for our next shows, there will be two at the same time, at Angel Mounds. We thought it would be fun to have a show for really big work and to juxtapose it with really tiny work, thus the reason for the names Really BIG and Really tiny.  The shows are open to all artists in the tri-state area and new members are welcome to join and submit work. No theme has been specified for either exhibit, only size restrictions.  Information and perspectus for both shows can be found on the events page of our website www.tri-stateartguild.org

Our judge is himself a fantastic artist and potter. Joe Smith is an art professor at Oakland City College and we are confident that he will select the best entries for awards! Which by the way, are in the amounts of $200 Best of Show, $100 First, $50 Second for each show individually. There will also be a “People’s Choice” award that will be voted on during the reception on June 12 from 1-3pm and will be awarded at the end of the reception.  The reception is free and artists are encouraged to invite friends and family.

Artwork in the Really BIG Show must be at least 24″ x 36″ minimum with the maximum size of  6′ x 8′. Sculpture is accepted but artists are required to call ahead to see if a display case is available for the work. Extra large work that does not require protection may not need to be in a case, but please contact us anyway! There is no theme for either show, only the size has been specified. We do ask, however, that there be no nudes since Angel Mounds is a family place.

The Really tiny Show artwork frame size minimum is 4″ x 6″ and largest is “12 x 14″.  No theme is specified in this show either.  Entry info must be emailed to info@tri-stateartguild.org by May 29. Entry fees may be snail mailed by June 1 or submitted during the entry drop off.  Artists may also call 270-826-6674 for more information.

As always, we really appreciate our co-sponsors, the Friends of Angel Mounds for allowing our guild to exhibit there.  They are a fantastic group to work with! We hope everyone will make it a point to enter or at least visit the show while it is up!
